OXFORD PRISON
Here's an alternative view from the picture postcard Oxford, one usually sees.  It's taken from West Oxford, in the St Thomas's area. The stone structure (St George's Tower) in the middle is what remains of Oxford Castle. The Castle adjoins the apparently de-commissioned Oxford Prison. To the left, you might be able to make out a round tower with its conical lead roof, (this is Debtor's Tower) which belongs to Oxford Prison. to the left of this, amongst the trees is Castle Hill, where the good citizens of Oxford could enjoy 'a day at the gallows'. On the right of the tower is one of the many pyramids adorning The Westgate Shopping Centre. All very symbolic.
