He never changed his look, that distant staring.

In Australia another violent incident involving another apparent 'nutter' has instantly summoned up more Orwellian restrictions.

On Thursday, 29th May a passenger on a Launceston bound flight from Melbourne suddenly went berserk slashing at crew and passengers until he was over-powered by flight attendant, Greg Khan. Mr Khan, whose brother-in-law, Domenic Bordin also happened to be aboard the flight sustained multiple stab wounds to his head.

Bordin assisted in controlling the assailant.

"I made it immediately plain that he had hit my brother-in-law. He was well aware of the fact that Greg was my brother-in-law.

I did ask him why he did what he did but he didn't respond. He never changed his look, that distant staring."

David Mark Robinson following a well-worn script had disappeared for a while previous to this alleged frenzy. A friend and former flatmate ' Tony' revealed that Mr Robinson had just come back from England.'

'We hadn't seen him for some time and wondered where he had been. We were actually worried about him. Then he turns up and says he's been back to England and his dad hasn't got long to live.'

"It's just really sad. He's being painted as some mad terrorist but he really isn't. He's a really nice bloke."

40-year-old Mr Robinson who is English, and speaks with a 'posh' accent is described as 'almost angelic' and extremely generous by a close acquaintance. Mrs Jones said,

"We used to talk a lot about spiritual things. I always thought he was a bit brainwashed because he was very set in his beliefs, which were extremely powerful, but they were pretty standard Christian beliefs. And he was very respectful of my beliefs.

I was absolutely shocked when I read about the flight. He seemed so level headed. He never displayed any sign of violence or anger. He was almost angelic."

A former IT colleague described how everyone at David Robinson's previous work place is in a 'complete state of shock'. Everyone is confused. Mr Robinson is a normal likeable guy, with a strong sense of morals he said.

So out of the blue the angelic David Mark Robinson (meaning Moon, Mars, Sun) suddenly appears back in Australia, whittles a couple of 8-inch wooden stakes and boards a Tasmania (Tas-mania) bound Qantas jet to Launceston. Once in the air, up he jumps brandishing a can of aerosol and the two daggers and launches himself towards the cockpit. The deeply spiritual, generous, lovely guy now proceeds to terrify passengers and crew, wielding his weapons, slashing at all and sundry Why? Well the proffered explanation is that his dad was dying and his girlfriend had dumped him.

Was it mind-control? It certainly makes me wonder.

"I knew him personally and it just makes no sense. I'm shocked. It seems incongruous."

Robinson faces 3 charges including attempting to hijack a plane, and assaulting two crew members. The mandate of Australian Protective Services already excessively anti-human is expanded to include airport policing. Australian air travellers face 'spot interrogations' and sweaty handed frisking of anybody behaving suspiciously.

"When a piece of equipment will not pick up a weapon, a trained and professional eye will pick up an agitated person."

So never look confused at airports ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, or rummage through your bags to check you've got your passport or make any sudden movements even if you're late for your plane.

This weekend, Justice Minister Chris Ellison said,

"This is a measure the Government had decided on prior to (this) attempted hijack of a Qantas aircraft"

Course you did Chris.
