Weather: Heavy showers during the day though dry during visit.
In my view this formation sited next to an oak tree, like most Oxford circles it seems, was constructed through human agency, and probably by person or persons local or connected to the area.
The formation lacked energy although 200 yards west and down the hill it was magnificent.
2nd visit 30th April 2005
Visited the formation again on 30th April on a bright and warm Saturday afternoon finding the crop has grown tremendously since my last visit (Tuesday 26th April), and the energy now present. The formation appears to be in a direct alignment between Garsington church, last year's dragon 1 formation and Sinodun Hill (near Wittenham Clumps *). Although St Mary's, Garsington, Dragon 1 and Sinodun Hill are on the St Michael Line this formation is not.
We are very close now to Beltane (the true date being 5th May when the sun is at 15 degrees Taurus) when the sun rises near Hopton, Norfolk and blazes a path right along the Michael Line to Cornwall and beyond. On its way it will zoom through the Baldons - a name that likely derives from Bal or Bel-dun or don, meaning hill. Tan also means hill so a case can be made for Baldon agreeing with Beltan. Bel the ancient sun god is easily recognisable as the pre-Christian St Michael.
Note: Interestingly large cats have been witnessed at Wittenham. Last year whilst walking in the woods there I heard a rumbling growl - twice. I didn't hang around for the third! The APRA site reports hearing the same growling at Wittenham and this witness saw the animal too. I was speaking in London on 23rd April and wandered round to have a look at St Michael's church in the City. The statue outside the front entrance therefore elicited added interest.

On Thursday, 12th May 2005 I took the day off work and hired a pilot and plane to visit this formation and at the same time see if I could see any others. At first the pilot was reluctant to fly due to the strong gusting winds but we did get up. On the way to the Baldons I spotted a spiral formation near Garsington and Southend. This formation had been reported to the Crop Circle Connector on the 2nd May. (I had previously tramped the fields looking for it but it had eluded me. - see Garsington Spiral ). Unfortunately my zoom camera decided not to work but fortunately I had taken my other camera along and so I was able to get some photos of both formations albeit a bit distant. The Gotham Galaxies comprises of a small circle and two galactic designs and from the air I have to say they are stunning, even after all this time. My photographs sadly do not do them justice.

P.s. Whilst at the airfield one of the pilots told me that he spotted a crop circle in NW Oxfordshire yesterday. Unfortunately he could not remember exactly where. He said he only noticed it out of the corner of his eye and having no interest in them didn't think any more of it.
